Marysville Wrestlers Take Second at Beatrice Invitational

Marysville Bulldogs wrestling has racked up strong finish after strong finish this season thus far and coming of the holiday break it was no different at the Beatrice Invitational earning second place as a team. 

With 200 total points the Bulldogs earned second place as a team at the Beatrice Invitational competing with eight schools out of Nebraska. The Bulldogs finished 22.5 points behind the first place team on at the tournament which was Papillion-La Vista South. 

Leading the charge for Marysville on the day was seven second place finishes on the day. Five of the seven guys notched 3-1 days on the mats to earn their second place finish. Isaac Novotny picked up pinfall wins in 3:31 and 1:24 along with a major decision 9-1 win at 106lbs to take second, while pinfalls wins in 2:34 and 51 seconds and a 9-0 major decision win earned Jonny Crome second at 132lbs. Noah Ackerman won by pinfall in 2:29 and 2:30 and also claimed a 14-5 major decision win at 152lbs to finish second, while a pinfall (2:39), 7-1 decision and 5-3 sudden victory were Ben Dwerlkotte's three wins on his way to second at 195lbs. Seth Mooradian finished third at 285lbs going 3-1 with three pinfall wins in 1:49 and 32 and 28 seconds. 

Garron Champoux (182lbs) grabbed a third place finish after a 3-1 performance on the mats at the Beatrice Invitational. Champoux won all three of his matches by pinfall in 1:50, 3:16 and 1:38.

A fourth place finish was earned by Atreyau Hornbeak (170lbs) going 2-2 with both wins coming by pinfall in 1:59 and 2:29. 

Both Matthew Schmitz (113lbs) and Keegan Caudillo (138lbs) each earned a fifth place finish both going 2-2 in action. Schmitz won by sudden victory 4-2 and also a 8-5 decision, while Caudillo won by a 3-2 decision and also an 11-2 major decision.

Jakob Snellings (120lbs) and Brycen Detimore (160lbs) both were also in action for Marysville. 

Marysville continues the wrestling season on Thursday, January 11th when they will host Clay Center in a North Central Kansas League dual.
