The Atchison Redmen wrestling squad got back to action after the holiday break by taking to the mats at the Burns Wrestling Classic at Bonner Springs. 

Sixteen schools were action on the day at Atchison managed to total 35 points and finish tied for 11th as a team. 

Leading the way for Atchison on the day in Bonner Springs was the performance of Riley Smith who earned second place at 220lbs after going 2-2 on the mats. Smith earned his two wins by a 6-0 decision and by pinfall in 5:42. 

Cayden Dotson (106lbs) wrestled to a fourth place finish with a 2-2 record on the day picking up a TB 7-6 win and also a 6-2 decision victory.  

The trio of Jayden Watkins (126lbs), Collin Moranz (160lbs) and Nick Funk (285lbs) all placed sixth in their weight classes. Watkins went 2-3 with a pair of decision wins 6-0 and 2-1, while Moranz went 1-3 with a pinfall win (2:24) and Funk also went 1-3 with a win by pin (2:12). 

Brent Clary (285lbs) placed seventh posting a 1-2 record, recording his win by pinfall (1:10).

Ethan Snodgrass (126lbs), Gavin Rebant (132lbs), Malachai Baumgartner (160lbs) and Austin Detimore (182lbs) were all also in action for Atchison. 

Atchison will continue their wrestling season on January 12-13th at the St. Mary's Invitational.
