Holton Leads Area Performances Taking Second at Sadowski Tournament

The high school wrestling season continued for several area wrestling teams over the weekend as Holton hosted their annual Sadowski tournament. 

The Wildcats of Holton led the area performances by taking second place behind only Andover Central. Other area team finishes saw Sabetha take seventh, Perry Lecompton eighth, Oskaloosa 11th, Doniphan West 13th and Maur Hill 15th. 

Holton was led by a trio of individual first place finishes as Kyler Tannahill (285lbs), Lawson Henry (138lbs) and Taygen Fletcher (120lbs) each earned first place. Tannahill recorded a 3-0 day on the mats winning all three matches by pinfall in 1:06, 1:40 and 4:36. For Henry it was a 4-0 day on the mats with a pair of pinfall wins in 1:15 and 2:37, while also winning by decision twice 13-6 and 5-4. Fletcher posted a 2-0 day recording a 8-1 decision win and a 5-3 sudden victory. A 2-1 day by Kolby Roush (126lbs) earned him second place as he earned a pair of pinfall wins, while Jake Barnes (106lbs) went 4-1 in action to bring home a third place finish. Dylan Aeschliman (170lbs) also finished third place as he registered a 3-1 performance on the mats. A fourth place finish was picked up by Conner Gilliland (132lbs) as he went 2-2 in action. Both Cael Jackson (152lbs) and Ace Eisenbarth (160lbs) each earned fifth place going 2-2 and 3-2 in action on the Wildcats home mats. 

Sabetha was led by a pair of second place finishes as Cauy Rokey (195lbs) and Elliott Strahm (285lbs) each earned second place. Rokey posted a 2-1 record on the day earning a pinfall win (0:59) and 15-12 decision, while Strahm also went 2-1 with two pinfall wins in 25 seconds and 1:47. Kaden Dillon (113lbs) wrestled his way to third place going 3-1 in action, while both Kamden Brownlee (152lbs) and Walker Lowdermilk (160lbs) each took fourth place both going 2-2 in action. Michael Gugelman (126lbs) went 2-2 for fifth place, while Braden Mitchell (132lbs) went 1-3 to take sixth. 

Hayden Robb led the Perry Lecompton Kaws performances at Holton as he posted a 2-1 record to take second place at 182lbs. Robb had a pair of pinfall wins in 3:00 and 3:53. Four Kaws earned fourth place at the Sadowski tournament as Braden Woodson (113lbs), Wyatt Pringle (126lbs), Collin Rossillon (220lbs) and Kyle Bonham (285lbs) each took fourth. Boham Woodson and Pringle all went 2-2, while Rossillon was 3-2 in action. A 3-2 day by Grant Roush (138lbs) earned him fifth for Perry Lecompton. 

Oskaloosa was led by Jared Miller who posted a 4-0 day to win the 182lbs weight class claiming victory by pinfall all four times in 1:58, 1:19, 1:55 and 5:37. Triston Hopkins earned a third place finish at 145lbs going 3-1 in action, while Eli King (170lbs) placed fourth after going 2-2 in action. 

Doniphan West was led by Zeb Speer who finished second at 160lbs going 2-1 with pinfall wins in 48 seconds and 2:24, while Norman Miller went 1-3 and took sixth place at 285lbs. 

Maur Hill was led by Ethan Seager (106lbs) as he placed fifth going 2-2 in action and August Malm (170lbs) took sixth place going 1-3 in action.
