Perry Lecompton Kaw wrestlers put together a strong showing at the Fredonia Invite competing against some tough competition and taking first place as a team.
The Kaws behind five individual champions and 25 pinfall wins from their wrestlers to post 195.5 points and win the team title at the Fredonia Invite by 49.5 points.
Braden Woodson (113lbs), Joel Guess (145lbs), Hayden Robb (182lbs), Cyrus McCoy (220lbs) and Kyle Bonham (285lbs) all posted unbeaten records to finish first place at their respective weight classes. For Woodson it was a 5-0 day at on the mats at 113lbs picking three pinfall wins in 2:52, 3:57 and 2:39 which happened in the Championship bout and also won 16-0 technical fall and 12-4 major decision. Bonham also recorded a 5-0 day for the Kaws to take first at 285lbs with his first four wins coming by pinfall in 45 and 20 seconds, along with 1:22 and 1:06 and finished his day with a 9-5 decision win in the Championship bout.
Robb registered a 4-0 day at 182lbs winning all four matchups by pinfall in 1:15, 1:51, 5:10 and 58 seconds which happened in the Championship bout. Guess went 3-0 in action at 145lbs to take first place winning by 13-0 major decision, pinfall 1:56 and pinfall 5:48 in the Championship match. McCoy went 2-0 in action to take first with two pinfall wins in 32 seconds and 3:20.
Five more Kaws earned second place finishes on the day at the Fredonia Invite helping the Kaws win the team title. Wyatt Pringle (120lbs) earned second place with a 4-1 performance with three wins by pinfall and the other by decision. A 3-1 showing at 138lbs by Grant Roush earned him second place as he recorded two pinfall wins and a win by major decision. Gavin Monaghan (195lbs) and Thad Metcalfe (126lbs) each earned second place by going 2-1 in action, while Dalton Kahle (106lbs) went 1-1 and also nabbed a second place finish.
Other Kaws in action included Grant Shaver (160lbs) who went 1-3 to take sixth place, while Hunter Barnes (132lbs) was also in action falling in both of his bouts.
Perry Lecompton continues their wrestling season at the Baldwin in a double dual on January 31st.
