Oskaloosa Wrestlers Take Third to Lead Area Performances at Chase County Invite

Three area wrestling teams wrapped up their regular seasons competing at the Chase County Invite on Saturday as Oskaloosa, Doniphan West and Onaga wrestlers were all in action. 

Oskaloosa led the area performances by taking third place out of 13 teams scoring 100 points, while Doniphan West tied for ninth and Onaga finished 13th. 

Oskaloosa Bears were led by a trio of individual first place finishes as Triston Hopkins (145lbs), Eli King (170lbs) and Jared Miller (182lbs) all brought home first place finishes. Hopkins went 4-0 in action winning by technical fall 19-2, pinfall 35 seconds, pinfall 1:15 and 8-0 major decision. King posted a 3-0 day on the mats with wins by 10-1 major decision, pinfall 30 seconds and 21-8 major decision. Miller went 2-0 in action with a pair of pinfall wins in 1:12 and 1:05 to take first place. Colby Peck (195lbs) and Kaleb Frisbie (106lbs) each notched fourth place finishes with both guys went 2-2. Peyton Taliaferro (106lbs), Lucas Hatfield (138lbs), Christopher King (220lbs) and Jeremy Cole (220lbs) all were in action for the Bears, also.  

Doniphan West was led by an individual first place finish as Zeb Speer posted a 3-0 record to take first at 160lbs registering all three wins by pinfall in 1:29, 1:24 and 52 seconds. A 2-2 performance earned Jacob Lackey fourth place at 113lbs for Doniphan West as he recorded his two wins by pinfall. Norman Miller (285lbs) and Nico Munson (120lbs) both were in action also for the Mustangs. 

Onaga only had two wrestlers in action as Vincent Lara (220lbs) and Trenton Cott (160lbs) both were competing.
