Jackson Heights 52, Jefferson County North 42

It was a slow start for the number four seed at home Tuesday night as Jackson Heights missed their first seven three-point attempts.  However, trailing 11-8 against JCN entering the second quarter, Kolby Rethman got hot and scored 10 straight points to propel the Cobras to the lead and a 18-10 second quarter advantage.  JCN got a trey from Bryce Fowler to pull within 26-21 just before the halftime buzzer and Boston Lane hit a one-handed miracle trey while falling out of bounds into his JCN bench to end the third period as the Chargers still trailed 36-30.  Lane hit a bucket to start the fourth frame and pull within four, but Jackson Heights answered with a 9-0 run to put the game away and hit 10 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal their fifth straight win.

The senior star duo of Brayden Summers and Boston Lane were both held six points below their season scoring average and combined for just eight points in the first half.  Lane finished with 11 points and Summers had 10 on the night while Jirou Gill and Bryce Fowler each added six.  JCN was 1-8 at the foul line in the second half and ended their season with a 14-6 record.

Jackson Heights improved to 14-5 and moved into the semifinals where they will face top seed adn undefeated Lyndon in the Wabaunsee 2A Sub State on Friday night at 6:00 PM on KNZA 103.9 FM.  Rethman scored 13 points including three treys and Brady Holliday had a moster game to earn "Player to Bank On" honors from the Citizens State Bank and Trust Company in Hiawatha.  Holiday doubled his season scoring average to post 11 points, but more importantly, added a handful of steals, assits and rebounds as a senior leader making all the little plays.  Classmate, Braden Dohl added nine points and Lane Thomas had six of his eight points in the second half.
