Centralia Panther boys proved the third time is the charm and that it's hard to beat a team three times in a single season as they topped Doniphan West 56-49 to win the 1A-Division I Sub-State Championship.

Doniphan West ran out to a 7-0 lead over the first two and half minutes of the contest leading to a Centralia timeout but the Panthers recovered and trailed just 11-10 after one quarter. The lead was one-point or the game was tied in the second quarter multiple times and then with 1:05 left in the first half Centralia swung the lead to their advantage up 21-20 and entered halftime up one. The lead grew to as many as nine points in the third quarter with Centralia posting a 10-5 quarter to lead 31-25 entering the fourth. Fourth quarter featured plenty of scoring and Doniphan West drew within a single possession multiple times with as Centralia fending them off and finishing the game from the free throw line with Kamble Haverkamp knocking down key free throws to help Centralia with 56-49.

Kamble Haverkamp led Centralia with 20 points all in the second half earning himself Community National Bank "Player to Bank On" honors on KMZA. Nathan Rempe chipped in 13 points for the Panthers helping them improve to 15-9 on the season and qualify for State for the 16th time with the last time being 2016.
