Hanover Girls Back In 1A-DI State Title Game After Semifinal Win

After picking up first State wins in school history last year and winning the Class 1A-DI State title the Hanover lady Wildcats are back in the State title game this season looking to defend their State title after beating South Central 54-46 in the State Semifinals. 

South Central held the lead 13-12 after the first quarter as it was a tight battle and it remained tight but by halftime Hanover held the lead behind a 12-8 second quarter leading 24-21 at halftime. The lead grew for the Wildcats in third quarter behind a 18-11 frame and Hanover went on to secure the 54-46 win. Contest was marred with turnovers as Hanover overcame 19 turnovers to earn the win, while South Central had 18 turnovers. 

Wildcats were led by Macy Doebele who had a double-double finishing with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Claire Zarybnicky tallied 14 points with 10 coming in the first half. Tianna Lohse chipped in 12 points as the Wildcats went 6-10 from three-point range. 

The win moves Hanover to 20-3 on the season and into the State title game for the second straight year. Wildcats will look to defend their title on Saturday, March 10th at 4:00pm against St. Paul in the 1A-DI State Tournament in Hays.
