Riverside Hosts Track Relays With Multiple Area Teams in Action

The 2018 track and field season got underway for multiple area teams on Tuesday as Riverside played host to their Riverside Relays competition. 

Leading the way for the area teams was the team performance of the Troy girls who earned second place as a team behind only KC East Christian Academy. Oskaloosa took third place as a girls’ team, while ACCHS finished fifth and Riverside ninth. On the boys side of competition Bishop LeBlond took first place while ACCHS and Troy finished third and fourth, respectively as teams. Riverside and Oskaloosa notched fifth and sixth place team finishes. Ten total schools were in competition on the day. 

The Troy Trojans were led on the day by a pair of gals that won two events each individually. Amanda Stock took home first place in both the triple jump (32'07.50) and high jump (5'00), while Morgan Masters notched first place finishes in both the long jump (16'00) and 100 meter dash (13:37). Lady Trojans 4x100 meter relay also took first place posting a time of 54.74. 

Leading the way for the Oskaloosa Bears was Alexi Adams as she raced to first place in both the 200 and 400 meter dashes with times of 28.74 and 1:02.73. Jaden Courter with a toss of 34'03 won the girls shot put - 34'03 and the lady Bears 4x400 meter relay team took first (4:52.18).

ACCHS Tigers were led by Tucker Smith who sprinted to wins in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes in the boy’s competition posting times of 11.79, 23.94 and 54.45. Luke Miller added another first place finish to the day for the Tigers as he won the discus with a toss of 102'09. 

The host Riverside took first in the girls and boys pole vault events with Danielle MacKnight posting a vault of 5'0 to the girl’s competition and Austin Hawkins with a vault of 6'6 won the boys event. Matthew Kline also took first place for the Cyclones racing to a time of 5:05.91 to win the 1600 meter run.
