Jeff West & Perry Lecompton Compete at Baldwin Track Invite

A pair of Big Seven League teams opened their track seasons by competing at the Baldwin Invitational on Thursday. 

Jeff West and Perry Lecompton registered sixth place and eighth place finishes for their girls teams, while on the boys side it was a seventh place finish for Perry Lecompton. 

Leading the Perry Lecompton Kaws performances on the day was Shane Quinlan who sprinted first place in the 200 meter dash (22.99), while the boys 4x100 meter relay team also took first place with a time of 44.71. Also in the boys competition the Kaws took second in the 4x400 meter relay, while Dalton Kellum posted a fourth and fifth place in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. In the field events for the Kaw boys it was a second place by Colton Mallonee in the triple jump and a fifth place finish by Ty Packard in the javelin leading the way. 

The lady Kaws were led by Cali Coleman who recorded three Top five finishes at the Baldwin Invite placing third in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, while taking fifth in the long jump. Four other lady Kaws earned Top five finishes in field events on the day with Talisa Stone taking third in the high jump, Halley Kellum placing third in the triple jump, Mykiah McDaniel earning third in the discus and Morgen Coyle finishing fifth in the javelin. 

Jeff West Tigers were led by the three event wins in the girls competition at Baldwin. Mariah Murdie took the gold in the 100 meter hurdles posting a time of 15.92 and behind a leap of 36'02 earned first in the triple jump. Makenzie Tucker recorded the other first place finish for the lady Tigers by winning the pole vault with a vault of 9'06 and also took third in the 2000 meter steeplechase. A second place finish in the girls 200 meter dash and fourth in the 400 meter dash were earned by Jordan Hawman for the lady Tigers. On the boys side of competition Jacob Hamon posted the best Jeff West finish placing ninth in the 1600 meter run.
