Clifton-Clyde Competes at Bennington Track Invite

Clifton-Cylde Eagles track and field team look to spread their wings in competition at the Bennington Invitational on Thursday as the action was moved up a day due to expected weather. 

Both the girls and boys put together strong days in competition placing fourth and fifth as teams, respectively out of 13 schools in action. 

Leading the way for the Eagles on the day was a pair of first place finishes as Emily Coffman won the girls javelin with a toss of 111'07, while Christian Seifert won the boys 300 meter hurdles with a time of 43.38). Coffman added to her day by also placing fourth in the high jump and Seifert also took sixth in the 110 meter hurdles. 

Ten other Top eight finishes were earned in the girl’s competition by Clifton-Clyde with the 4x100 meter relay team taking second place to lead the group. Kiara Knox registered a fourth place showing in the long jump, while also taking fifth in the triple jump and javelin. Maycee Callihan earned fourth place in the shot put and Alyssa Brown snagged a sixth place finish in the 3200 meter run. Jaysie Bowser recorded a fifth place finish in the pole vault and sixth place finish in the 400 meter dash. While, Ella Steinbrock placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles and qualified for the Finals of the 200 meter dash but did not race in the finals finishing in eighth place. 

Twelve more Top eight finishes outside of Seifert's performances were posted by Clifton-Clyde boy’s competitors at the Bennington Invitational. The 4x400 meter relay earned second place, while the 4x100 meter relay earned a third place finish. Individually Zach Sorell snagged third in the 800 meter run and Brent Douglas sprinted to third place finishes in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Bradley Koch also recorded a third place showing tossing his way to third in the discus and added a seventh place finish in the javelin to his day, also. A sixth place finish in the shot put and seventh place in the long jump were both earned by Drake Steinbrock. Isiah Pierce, Wyatt Cyr and Aiden Kieffer all had seventh place finishes for the Eagles coming in the 110 meter hurdles, high jump and pole vault, respectively. 

The track season continues on Monday, April 9th for Clifton-Clyde as they are set to compete at the Washington County Invite.
