Wrestlers hit the mats this past weekend to get the wrestling season started and many Kanzaland area teams competed in the Worley/Tilton Dual Tournament in Atchison.

It was the Redman of Atchison and the Tigers ACCHS who dominated things on the mat as they both went 4-0 in their respective pool play action, before meeting up with each other in the championship dual. In the championship match it would be the Tigers proving to be to much for the Redman wining 46-25.

Third place was battle for by two more Kanzaland area teams as Royal Valley and Horton/Hiawatha competed against each other in the third place dual on the mat. The Panthers registered a 3-1 record in pool to make the third place game while Horton/Hiawatha went 2-2 (winning tiebreak with Eudora via head-to-head). Panthers continued to preform well taking down Horton/Hiawatha 57-18 for third place.

Fifth, seventh and tenth places as teams were captured by Kanzaland area wrestling squads as well. Pleasant Ridge took down Eudora for fifth place, 59-18. Oskaloosa would be the Extra team at the tournament for seventh, 51-36. While, Riverside took home tenth place as they fell to Wellsville 40-6 in the ninth place dual.
