Atchison Competes at Bonner Springs Track Invite

While multiple Atchison track athletes are set to compete in the annual KU Relays several other Atchison track athletes continued their season at the Bonner Springs Invite on Thursday. 

Leading the way for Atchison at the Bonner Springs Invite was a first place finish by Adalynn Collins in the girls 3200 meter run as she posted a time of 13:03.30 to take first place. Collins added silver in the 1600 meter run to her day, while Teagan Hanson finished fourth in the 3200 meter run. 

Amari Rawls had her best finish on the day in the girl’s long jump placing fifth, while also racing to sixth and seventh place finishes in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, respectively. Morgan Perry tossed her way to third place in the javelin, while taking seventh in the shot put. Kenleigh Ligget added a ninth place finish in the 400 meter dash. 

On the boys side of competition a pair of seventh place finishes led Atchison as Xavier Hernandez took seventh in the discus and Gabe Powell placed seventh in the 3200 meter run. Nick Funk finished eighth in the discus and ninth in the shot put, while Matthew Sowers took eighth in the 1600 meter run and Christian Arnold finished eighth in the 110 meter hurdles. Eric Hill logged a ninth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles. 

Atchison continues their track season on Friday, April 27th at the Desoto Invite.
