Frankfort Boys Golfers Take Team Title While Sabetha Golfer Has Top Individual Round at Centralia Invite

Monday proved to be one of the best days of weather for spring sports in Northeast Kansas all season and several area boy's golf teams took advantage and hit the links for competition at the Centralia Invite. 

Frankfort Wildcats put together another strong team showing tallying the best four-man team score to win the Centralia Invite by 24-strokes with a team score of 371. Washington County took second place with a 395, while Sabetha was just one-stroke (396) in third place. Hanover (409), Centralia (425), Valley Heights (459) and Holton (500) finished out the team scores in fourth through seventh. Royal Valley and Onaga both had golfers in action also on the day but did not field a full four-man team. 

While the top team score belonged to Frankfort the top individual score was registered by a Sabetha Bluejay as Marcus Funk shot a 79 to win the Centralia Invite by five strokes. One other Bluejay finished in the Top 15 as Chad Russell shot a 98 for 15th place. 

Frankfort on their way to first place as a team were led by Josh Tynon and Brandon Bussmann who posted rounds of 85 and 89, respectively to finish third and fifth. Brandon Anderson shot a 96 and placed 13th on the day. 

Valley Heights Mustang, Bryan Yungeberg notched the second best round on the links on Monday at the Centralia Invite posting a 84 to earn second. 

Washington County, Centralia, Hanover and Royal Valley all had a pair of top 15 finishes on the day. Pepe Cardenas and Kobe Hoover led Washington County posting rounds of 90 and 91 to place sixth and seventh. Kenton Talley led Centralia shooting a 88 to take fourth place, while Nathan Rempe shot a 95 to place 11th.

Hanover was led by Carter Bruna who with a round of 91 earned ninth place, while Dawson Sedlacek shot a 97 for 14th place. Corey Humpert led Royal Valley with a 91 to place eighth, while DJ Kester finished tenth with a 93. 

Holton Wildcat, Rafe Folk shot a 95 to finish 12th on the day at the Centralia Invite.
