Clifton-Clyde & Washington County Track Teams Compete at Beloit Relays

A pair of Twin Valley League schools in Clifton-Clyde and Washington County kept their track season rolling on Friday by competing at the Beloit Relays against a multitude of teams. 

Sixteen Top eight finishes led the way for the Clifton-Clyde Eagle track and field athletes at the Beloit Relays. Leading the lady Eagles was a second place finish by Maycee Callihan in the discus and also tied for eighth in the shot put, while Mallory Callihan earned third in the discus. Emily Coffman earned a bronze in the girl’s javelin and seventh place in the high jump, along with Kiara Knox placing third in the triple jump on the day. Jaysie Bowser posted a seventh place finish in the 400 meter dash and eighth place in both the 100 meter hurdles and 800 meter run. 

Clifton-Clyde boys were led by a silver medal for Jacob Stenberg in the pole vault, while Christian Seifter finished third in the 300 meter hurdles and eighth in the 110 meter hurdles. 
Nathan Ohlde took sixth in the discus as Elias Girard nabbed eighth place finishes in both the long jump and triple jump and Brant Douglas took eighth in the 100 meter dash. 

A trio of lady Tigers of Washington County had Top eight finishes with Camryn Boykin placing fourth in the 100 meter hurdles, Mia Cardenas placing fifth in the javelin and Allie Rumsey seventh in the shot put. Washington County boys were led by Garrett Cudney who took seventh in the pole vault, while Tyler Simmons finished eighth in the 3200 meter run. 

Clifton-Clyde is set to continue their track season on Thursday, May 4th at the Lincoln Invitational, while Washington County will also be competing on May 4th but will be in action at the Rock Hills Invitational.
