Hanover Girls Win Rock Hills Invite Leading Area Performances

A trio of Twin Valley League schools competed at the Rock Hills Invite continuing their track seasons. 

Leading the way for the area teams was the performance of the Hanover Wildcat girls who won the Rock Hills Invite scoring 86.5 points to win by 30.5 points competing against 14 other schools. The Hanover boys earned seventh place as a team. Washington County boys took ninth place, while the girls finished 14th. Linn was also in action as the girls took ninth, while the boys finished 13th. 

Multiple multi-event winners paced the Hanover Wildcats at the Rock Hills Invite. Macy Doebele paced Hanover winning the girls triple jump and long jump with leaps of 36'02.25 and 16'10.25, while the 4x100 (51.75) and 4x800 (10:48.78) meter relay teams both won also. Claire Zarybnicky also grabbed gold as she won the girls 800 meter dash with a time of 2:21.96. Several other top performances were had by lady Wildcats as Tianna Lohse took second in the javelin, while Taeghan Zabokrtsky earned the silver in the triple jump and the 4x400 meter relay team placed second. Zabokrtsky also finished fourth in the 200 meter dash on the day, while Bailey Liby placed fourth in the the 300 meter hurdles and Deja Atkins posted a fifth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles.

In the boys competition Hanover was led by Pete Peters took third in the shot put and finished fourth in both the discus and high jump. Boy’s 4x800 meter relay team took third place and Carter Bruna finished fifth in the javelin.

A first place finish in the girl’s high jump was the top performance for the Linn Bulldogs as Shelby Ohlde posted a leap of 5'08.50 to win the high jump. Ohlde also placed third in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, while placing fourth in the 100 meter dash. Dillon Cooper took fourth in the boy’s shot put, while Brooke Beier earned fourth place in the girl’s high jump. 

Washington County TIgers were led by a second place finish by Sean Bruna in the boy’s discus, while Garrett Cudney took fourth in the pole vault and Tyler Simmons finished fifth in the 3200 meter run. Lady Tigers were led by Camyrn Boykin who placed third in the 100 meter hurdles and Mia Cardenas placed fifth in the girl’s shot put.
