A League doubleheader and one non-league showdown highlighted Thursday night action in legion baseball for the Northeast Kansas League. 

Leavenworth hosted Oskaloosa on the evening for a League twinbill and both teams earned a win as Oskaloosa took game one 9-3, while Leavenworth won the second game 3-2 in walk-off fashion. 

In non-league play Doniphan County hosted Falls City and fell in a tough eight inning contest falling 7-6. 

Oskaloosa & Leavenworth Split League Doubleheader
It was a split on Thursday night as Leavenworth hosted Oskaloosa in League play as Oskaloosa took game one 9-3 and Leavenworth bounced back and won game two 3-2 in walk-off fashion. 

Game one saw Leavenworth take the early lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning but Oskaloosa swung the lead to their side with a two-run top of the third. The lead was short lived for Oskaloosa as Leavenworth scratched another run across in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 2-2. Oskaloosa produced most of their offense late tallying two runs in the sixth and five more the seventh, while Leavenworth got a run in the bottom of the seventh but Oskaloosa snagged the 9-3 win. Tucker Sherretts earned the win on mound tossing six innings for Oskaloosa, while Dawson Gatzemeyer led the offense with two hits. Leavenworth managed only two hits in the game, while both teams had four errors. 

Oskaloosa took the lead in game two behind a two-run top of the fourth and looked for the sweep but Leavenworth answered in the bottom of the fifth inning with a two RBI double by Tanner Morris to ultimately push the contest into extra innings. After a scoreless sixth and seventh innings Ross Brown III for Leavenworth delivered with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn the walk-off 3-2 win and get the split on the evening. Collin Jones tossed the final four innings for Leavenworth and struckout 11 of the 12 batters he faced earning the win on the mound, while Chase Burns offensively had three hits. 

The split moves Leavenworth to 5-3 on the season, while Oskaloosa moves to 3-4 on the year. 

Doniphan County Falls to Falls City in Tough Battle
Late offense partnered with some miscues by Doniphan County gave Falls City the extra inning 7-6 win coming in eight innings. 

Doniphan County led 6-2 entering the seventh inning but four hits partnered with a fielder's choice, error and passed ball in the seventh helped Falls City score four runs to tie the game at 6-6 and force extra innings. Another Doniphan County error in the eighth inning ultimately led to the go ahead run and pushed Falls City to the 7-6 win. 

Zeb Speer started the contest and went six innings giving up four runs on four hits and no walks and struckout nine, while Levi Watts tossed the final two innings of the game. Offensively Doniphan County had 12 hits but stranded 11 on the base in the loss. Brody Winder led the way going 3-5 with two doubles and four RBI, while Bryson Kirkland had two hits and Bradly Libel went 2-3 with three runs scored. 

The loss moves Doniphan County to 6-3 on the season.
