The Kansas State football team has announced its captains for the upcoming 2018 season and former Horton Charger Trey Dishon was named a co-captain.

The two main captains are senior right tackle Dalton Risner and junior quarterback Alex Delton.

As a co-captain, Dishon will assist the main captains at weekly meetings and during pregame obligations along with five other co-captains.

Dishon will be a redshirt junior for the Wildcats this season and is coming off a strong 2017 campaign in which he compiled 21 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss and one sack in his first season starting at defensive tackle.

He got his chance after a strong showing in his redshirt freshman season in which he compiled 18 total tackles, four tackles for loss and three sacks.

Dishon came to K-State after originally receiving no FBS offers after his high school senior season. He first committed to play football at Division II power Northwest Missouri State, but once he committed to the Bearcats, K-State head coach Bill Snyder came knocking.

Dishon took a visit to Manhattan and the rest is history.

He led Horton to a 7-2 record and dominated in his senior season as expected, finishing second on the team in tackles with 47, first on the team in tackles for loss with 10, first in sacks with 4.5 and first in quarterback hurries with 18.

The 6’3, 292 pound Dishon also served as the Chargers kicker, connecting on 16 of 21 extra point attempts during his final season.

Dishon and the Wildcats appear to be poised to have another strong season in Manhattan, as the schedule kicks off September 1 with a home game against South Dakota at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
