The night started off with a daunting task for the Lady Raiders of Nemaha Valley as they hosted the top team in in the state by the KBCA in Class 4A in the Lady Red Raiders of Wamego. It was a low scoring affair in throughout the first half as it was only 18-7 at the half in favor of Wamego and Wamego went on to win it 42-30.

Nemaha Valley made a push in the second half of action to close the margin to single digits but ultimately Wamego 6'2, Page sisters and the Lady Red Raiders were much for Nemaha Valley. Kaylee and Lanie Page for Wamego both NCAA Division I prospects, finished the night with 15 and 17 points, respectively. While for Nemaha Valley they played commendable against a though team as struggled with the size of Wamego.

For the Lady Raiders, it was a balanced scoring affair and looks to be that way most of the season with no player in double figures as senior, Ashley Rottinghaus and junior, Michaela Stallbaumer both tabbed six points each to lead Nemaha Valley. Sophomore, Jaci Swart earned our Community National Bank of Seneca and Sabetha "Player to Bank On" award for her relentless play rebounding the ball effective inside at her 5'8 size in amongst the 6'2 trees down low of Wamego; Swart finished with three points on the night.

Nemaha Valley fell to 1-1 with the loss but looks to build upon this game to propel them along this season and into Big Seven league play.

Boys

It was a dandy on the hardwood for the night cap in Seneca as Nemaha Valley who trailed in the ballgame until later in the fourth quarter came out victorious ultimately with the game winning bucket from senior, Creighton Brinker with 11.5 seconds remaining in the game and Wamego's shot came up short, giving Nemaha Valley the 45-44 win.

It was a sluggish start for Nemaha Valley in the ball game as they only registered five points in the first quarter and were down 16-5. Then the second quarter around and that's when the Raiders of Nemaha Valley feed the big man down low in 6'7, Brinker who poured in 14 of his game high 23 in the second quarter, scoring 14 of the 16 Nemaha Valley second quarter points to make it a three-point game at the half, 24-21.

Raiders, would come out with momentum in the second half and tie the game at 34-34 all after the third stanza and finally take the lead for the first time in the game in the fourth quarter. Down by one with under 30 seconds Nemaha Valley went to their big man Brinker who missed his first shot but got an offensive board and put back to give Nemaha Valley the one-point lead with 11.5 seconds to go. Wamego, went to Brady Hemphill who had been hot in the first half from the floor but miss fired on the last second shot.
