Royal Valley Volleyball Takes Second at Silver Lake Invite

The high school volleyball season continued Saturday as Silver Lake hosted an invitational, and the best area finish came from Royal Valley who took second falling to Silver Lake in the championship match. 

The Panthers, ranked No. 1 in 3A according to the latest KVA rankings, got to the title match by going 3-0 in pool play, picking up two-set wins over Rossville and Sabetha and a three-set win over St. Marys.

Royal Valley then got to the title match by taking down Perry Lecompton in the semifinals in three sets 25-16, 22-25 and 26-24, before falling to Silver Lake in the championship in three sets 24-26, 25-21 and 25-21.

Also in the tournament was Perry Lecompton, and the Kaws took third taking down Sabetha in the third place match.

The Kaws got to the semifinals of the tournament by going 2-1 in pool play, taking down Chapman and Jeff West in three sets each while falling to Silver Lake in two sets.

Perry then fell to Royal Valley in a three-set thriller in the semifinals 25-16, 22-25, 26-24, before taking down Sabetha in the third place match in three sets.

As to the Bluejays they finished the tournament fourth, ending the day with a record of 2-3.
