KWCA Releases New State Wrestling Rankings -- Dec. 4th-6th

With duals and a few tournaments in the the books for the action on the mat the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association as released a new set of state rankings.

In Class 3A and under 13 individuals wrestlers and two teams highlight the rankings, while in Class 4A five area grapplers are ranked in the latest rankings by the KWCA.

Starting off in Class 3A and under the Sabetha Bluejays have gotten off to a fast start to the season from many individuals on the mat and its translated to success as a team, too; with that success the Bluejays find themselves ranked eighth in the latest KWCA rankings as a team. One other area team is in the top 10 as the ACCHS Tigers have moved into the top 10, taking grasp of the tenth spot.

Both ACCHS and Sabetha have multiple individual grapplers ranked individually. For the Tigers they have three ranked in their respective weight classes with sophomore, Logan Bowen leading the way ranked first in the weight class of 120 lbs. Senior, Taylor Schuetz checks in at fourth in the 160lb weight class and fellow Tiger senior, Jared Hoffman, is ranked sixth in the 285lb weight class.

For Sabetha, they are lead by the two wrestlers in the rankings who are both seniors and are a combined 13-1 on the season. Tyler Edelman who is 6-1 ranks first in the 195lb weight class, while Levi Huneke ranks second in the 182lb weight class with a 7-0 record.

Pleasant Ridge and Marysville, like ACCHS and Sabetha have multiple wrestlers ranked in the latest set of rankings. For the Rams, senior, Jared Johnson ranks first in the 170lb weight class, while his teammate Tony Weber checks in at fifth in the 113lb weight class. The Bulldogs of Marysville have a trio of seniors, ranked in the top six in their respective weight classes as senior, Josh Goepfert is ranked third in the 113lb weight class, with James Landoll ranked fifth in the 138lb weight class and Mikah Nietfield ranked sixth in the 182lb weight class.

Three other area wrestlers are ranked in the latest rankings, also as Doniphan West, Horton and Centralia each as a wrestler ranked in their respective weight class. The highest ranked of the three is junior, Andrew Beck of Centralia in the 132lb weight class, while Doniphan West sophomore, Tristan Speer ranks fifth in the 195lb weight class and Horton senior, Little Bear Johnson ranks sixth in the 220lb weight class.

In Class 4A, five area wrestlers find themselves in the rankings and they all hail from the Big Seven League. The Holton Wildcats after a dominating performance at the Spring Hill Duals to start off the year have three wrestlers ranked in their weight classes. Senior, Hunter Price leads the way being ranked second in the weight class of 120lbs, while fellow Wildcat senior, Lane Lassiter ranks sixth in the 145lb weight class and junior, Andrew Rieschick remained ranked in the 160lb weight class, checking in at fifth.

Senior, Tanner Ogden for Royal Valley continued to remain ranked in his weight class of 145lbs, as he ranks third. While the only area wrestler in Class 4A from the area to be top ranked in his weight class hails from Jeff West, as junior, Justin Scott ranks number one in the weight class of 220lbs.
