The Valley Heights Mustang volleyball team saw their season come to an end Friday afternoon at the 2A State Tournament in Hays after going 0-3 in pool play.
Valley Heights opened up the tournament as the 8-seed and went up against top-seeded Pitt-Colgan in the first match off the day. Colgan showed exactly why they are ranked No. 1 taking down the Mustangs in two sets 25-12, 25-2.
The Mustangs then got matched up with 4-seed Maranatha and were competitive in the first set before falling 25-23, 25-7.
At 0-2 the Mustangs knew they were down for the tournament but they did not quit in their final pool play match, as they were competitive despite falling to Garden Plain 25-13 and 25-23.
The Mustangs end their season with a record of 24-18, going 13-3 in the Twin Valley League and a trip to the 2A state tournament.
