12 Area Athletes, One Coach Earn KVA All-State Honors

2018 KVA All-State – Selections

The Kansas Volleyball Association has announced the all-state teams for 2018 and 11 area athletes along with one coach earned honors.

In Class 1A the Centralia Panthers had both the Coach of the Year and player of the year, as senior Madison Lueger took home the player of the year award while Head Coach Kimbrook Tennal was named Coach of the Year. Centralia captured a third consecutive 1A State Championship this season with a perfect 46-0 record and are currently riding an 80-match win streak.

The Panthers also had Maegan Koch make it onto the 1A first team along with Frankfort’s Emilee Ebert, while Valley Falls’ Jaci Brinker was named to the second team and Centralia’s Kennedy Becker to the Honorable Mention team.

Class 2A had just one area athlete earn all-state honors, as Valley Heights’ Sam Vermetten was a second team selection.

In Class 3A Nemaha Central, Royal Valley and Holton all had players earn all-state honors. For the Thunder, who competed at the 3A State Tournament in Hutchinson, Jacy Dalinghaus was named to the first team, while Ashley Larkin picked up second team honors.

Royal Valley had Ivy Fink make it onto the first team, while Mary Broxterman was named to the second team.

The Holton Lady Cats rounded out the all-state selections for 3A, as senior Regan Baum earned honorable mention honors.

In Class 4A the Atchison Lady Red had one player make an all-state team after helping the Lady Red win the Kansas City-Atchison League, as Winny Harris was named an honorable mention selection.
