Centralia Girls and Boys Win Valley Heights Invitational Track Titles

The high school track season rolled along Tuesday night for area schools as Valley Heights hosted an invitatinal, and it was the Centralia girls and boys teams who each picked up first place finishes on the day. 

The Panthers had seven first place finishers on the girls side, led individually on the track by two gold medals as Morgan Kramer won the 100 meter dash and Maegan Koch won the 400 meter dash. Centralia also picked up two relay gold medals, as Kramer teamed up with Abbie Flentie, Tamra Jones and Kennedy Becker to win the 4 by 100 meter relay while the team of Kramer, Koch, Flentie and Jones won the 4 by 400 relay. 

In field events Becker picked up a first place finish in the triple jump, while Breanna Schmitz won the pole vault and Madison Lueger won the javelin. 

The host Valley Heights racked up a third place team finish on the day and finished with three gold medal winners. Emma Yungeberg won both the discus and shot put, while Samantha Vermetten won the 800 meter run. Vermetten then teamed up with Catherine Toerber, Abby Lister and Abigail Steinfort to win the 4 by 800 meter relay. 

Frankfort also had two individual first place finishers, as Grace Dressman won the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. 

First place finishers were rounded out by Troy who had three more gold medal winners, with Morgan Masters winning the long jump and 200 meter dash while Amanda Stock also won the high jump. 

On the boy's side Centralia ended the day in first place as a team, but finished with just two gold medal winners as Daegan Steinlage won the shot put and discus. 

Axtell finished second in the team standing and had four first place finishes led by Quinn Buessing who won the 800 meter run, the 1600 meter run and 3200 meter run. 

Buessing then teamed up with Simon Schmitz, Clark Werner and Blake Porting to take the 4 by 800 meter crown. 

Onaga also had two first place finishers, as Aaron Schwartz won both the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles. 

Reid Jasper of Troy also won the 100 and 200 meter dashes, while Valley Heights' Cameron Beardsley wrapped up area gold medal winners as he took the triple jump title.
