Holton Girls, Sabetha Boys Win Jackson Heights Track Invitational

Jackson Heights Invitational – Results

Area track teams were back in action Tuesday night at the Jackson Heights Invitational and it was the Holton girls and Sabetha boys who came away with team titles.

The Lady Cats won the meet with just two first place finishes, as Cailin Parks won the 400-meter dash while Tabor Barta won the pole vault.

Royal Valley finished second as a team with five gold medal winners, led by Kenzie Ogden who won the 100 and 300-meter hurdles. Morgan Harvey also won the 100-meter dash to go along with Mary Broxterman winning the discus, while Odgen and Harvey teamed up with Kenzie Hegemann and Ivy Fink to win the 4 by 100-meter relay.

Jackson Heights finished third with four first place finishers with Faith Little leading the way winning the 800 and 1600-meter runs. Little also teamed up with Annie Allen, Jodi White and MaKenzie Kennedy to win the 4 by 800-meter relay, while Sydney Raborn won the javelin throw.

Sabetha added two more gold medal winners with Morgan Schuette winning the high jump, while she teamed up with Hattie Lukert, Kinley Schuette and Skylar McAfee to win the 4 by 400-meter relay.

The girl’s side was rounded out by Jeff County North who also had two first place finishers with Madi Vaught winning the shot put while Zetta Noll won the 3200-meter run.

On the boy’s side the Sabetha Bluejays led the way with seven first place finishes, led by Mason Engelken who won the 110 and 300-meter hurdles while Henry Glynn won the 800-meter run. Engelken and Henry also teamed up with Braeden Cox and Micah Romines to win the 4 by 400-meter relay, while Cox, Glynn, Romines and Kaden Dillon won the 4 by 800-meter relay. Sabetha was rounded out by Elliott Strahm winning the shot put and Kaleb Grimm the javelin.

Jackson Heights finished third with three wins as Daniel Little won the 1600-meter run, Jackson Ahlgren the pole vault and Levi Olberding the triple jump.

Holton added three more golds with Ian Watkins winning the 100 and 200-meter dashes, while Kale Purcell captured the long jump title.

Royal Valley also had three first place finishes with Kain Fink and Komesh Spoonhunter picking up individual golds, while the team of Chance Lyming, Gavin Cumpton, Skylar Mechtley and Devon Hale won the 4 by 100-meter relay.

The final first place finishers were rounded out by ACCHS and Jeff County North as the Tigers had Tucker Smith win the 400-meter dash while the Chargers Trevor Pentlin won the 3200-meter run.
