Holton Girls, Sabetha Boys Win Royal Valley Quad

Royal Valley Quad - Results

The track season continued Tuesday night with Royal Valley hosting a Big 7 League quad and it was the Holton girls and Sabetha boys each picking up team wins.

The Wildcat girls claimed the team title with seven first place finishes, led by Saydee Tanking who won the javelin and discus throw. Tabor Barta also won the pole vault, Isabell Watkins won the 300-meter hurdles, Alayna Clayton the 3200-meter run and Cailin Parks the 200-meter dash. Parks also teamed up with Barta, Danika Hickman and Tes Young to win the 4 by 100-meter relay.

Sabetha finished second as a team with five gold medal winners, with Morgan Schuette winning the high jump, Payton Michael the shot put and Hattie Lukert the 800-meter run. The Lady Jays also had two relay golds, as the team of Lukert, Kinley Schuette, Morgan Schuette and Skylar McAfee won the 4 by 400-meter relay while the team of Lukert, McAfee, Hunter Lowdermilk and Kadyn Dorn won the 4 by 800 relay.

Royal Valley added three more golds, with Morgan Harvey winning the 100-meter dash and triple jump while Ivy Fink won the long jump.

Hiawatha rounded out the girls side with three winners as well, as Claire Geiger won the 100-meter hurdles, Kate Madsen the 1600-meter run and Emma Bigham the 400-meter dash.

On the boy’s side Sabetha took the top spot with nine total winners, led by Mason Engelken who won the 110 and 300-meter hurdles. The Bluejays added first place finishes by Micah Romines in the 400-meter dash, Henry Glynn in the 800-meter run, Braden Menold in the 3200-meter run, Elliott Strahm in the shot put and Kaleb Grimm in the javelin. Sabetha wrapped up with two relay golds, as the team of Engelken, Glynn, Romines and Braeden Cox won the 4 by 400-meter relay while the team of Cox, Glynn, Romines and Kaden Dillon took the 4 by 800-meter crown.

Holton added three more golds with Ian Watkins winning the 100 and 200-meter dashes, while Cameron Smith won the pole vault.

Royal Valley also had three first place finishers with Kain Fink winning the high jump and triple jump, while the team of Chance Lyming, Gavin Cumpton, Skylar Mechtley and Devon Hale took the 4 by 100-meter relay crown.

Hiawatha rounded out the day with three golds as well, with Justin Hodge winning the 1600-meter run, Broderick Jones the discus and Andrew Lierz the long jump.
