After another beautiful day for softball it will be an all Big 7 League regional championship in Atchison Thursday evening with the top-seeded Holton Wildcats taking on the Jeff West Tigers.

Jeff West picked up two solid wins Wednesday including one upset, as the Tigers beat Bishop Ward 10-0 before upsetting the two-seed of the 3A MH-MA regional Royal Valley 5-2.

In the win over Bishop Ward it was Grace Garrett the star for the Tigers in the center circle, as she tossed all seven innings allowing just three total hits while striking out six.

At the plate it was Gabby Overstreet and Mallory Young leading the way with three hits each, while Riley Buss added two hits, two runs scored and three RBI’s.

In the win over Royal Valley it was Kara Davis who was awarded the victory in the circle, as she lasted four innings, allowing five hits and one run while Grace Garrett got the save recording the last nine outs.

Overstreet collected two more hits in game two, while Buss had two hits as well as an RBI.

As to Holton the Lady Cats picked up two fairly easy victories, run-ruling the host Ravens 16-0 before getting by Pleasant Ridge 10-2.

In the win over the Ravens Jewel Lutz tossed a three-inning perfect game, as she struck out four including two of the last three batters she faced.

Offensively the Lady Cats plated five runs in the first and 11 more in the second and were led by Addy Degenhardt who collected two hits and two RBI’s.

Holton also had seven of nine batters score two runs and had nine different batters record hits.

In the semifinals the Lady Cats received another solid outing in the circle in a 10-2 win over Pleasant Ridge, as this time Gracie Gallagher delivered a three-hit, one run outing while striking out seven and retiring the last 15 batters she faced in order.

Offensively Holton opened the game with the first six batters reaching base and coming around to score before the Rams made a pitching change to Ally Parker who for the most part threw well.

Gracie Gallagher led the offense with three hits and three runs scored, while Bailey Flewelling was on base four times and scored a run with an RBI.

Holton and Jeff West will now battle it out for the right to go to the 3A State Tournament in Emporia as first pitch is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. with live coverage on 103.9 KNZA.
