The final full week of the legion baseball season wrapped up Sunday afternoon for area teams and below you can find the game capsules from the week.

Thursday, July 11

Doniphan County and Oskaloosa Split NEKL Doubleheader

Behind a 10-run fourth inning the Doniphan County seniors picked up a four-inning run-rule victory over Oskaloosa in game one by a 14-0 final. Trent Spiker and Charlie Grable each had big games offensively recording three RBI’s each, while Brock Blair tossed four innings allowing just two hits while striking out six.

Game two was a much different story with Oskaloosa scoring seven runs in the third and three more in the fourth to earn a 10-9 comeback win. Oskaloosa overcame four errors in the contest with Gage Burdick and Riley Trust each collecting two RBI’s, while the River Bandits also took advantage of eight Doniphan County walks. In the loss DC received big games from Brock Blair and Trent Spiker who each had three RBI’s, while Charlie Grable added two hits.

Friday, July 12

Sabetha Remains Perfect in League Play with Sweep of Hiawatha

Sabetha won game the first game 18-1.  Braden Argabright and Riley Herrmann each had three hits and three RBI's in the contest.  Joe Gruber scored four runs and Argabright added three runs to his offensive outburst.  The Raptors had five extra base hits in the 4-inning affair with on one of them being a solo home run to lead off the second inning.  Trevor Kramer pitched all four innings to pick up his sixth win of the season.

The Raptors won the second game 23-1 in three innings.  Gabe Garber, Blake Frey, Brayden Becker & Braden Mitchell all had three RBI's while Riley Herrmann, Garber, Frey and Becker scored 3 runs.  Sabetha took advantage of 13 walks and three hit batsmen in the contest.

Sunday, July 14

Marysville Takes Two League Games Over Doniphan County

Marysville pounded out 16 hits in their game one 13-8 win over Doniphan County scoring three runs in the first, five in the fourth, two in the sixth and three more in the seventh. Jonny Crome collected three hits in the contest while Trey Siemens had three RBI’s and Storm Slupianek added three more. In the loss Jace Grub collected two hits and two RBI’s while Kobe Davis added two more runs batted in.

Game two was much closer with the game tied at four after five innings, but in the sixth Marysville took control with six runs to go on to win 10-5. Doniphan County struggled on the mound walking nine and Marysville got three hits and three RBI’s from Derek Roever.

Silver Lake and Oskaloosa Split NEKL Doubleheader

Despite trailing 4-3 going into the bottom of the third inning, Silver Lake took control of game one with a 10-run inning to pick up a 13-4 run-rule victory. Oskaloosa struggled on the mound walking six in the contest while Isaac Lira collected two RBI’s and two runs scored in the loss.

In game two the River Bandits scored seven runs in the second inning to jump on top and earn the doubleheader split with a 9-4 win. Isaac Lira collected two hits and an RBI, while Cooper Jepson and Eli King added two RBI’s each.

Sabetha Earns Non-League Win Over Auburn

Sabetha defeated Auburn 4-1 behind Brayden Becker's 2-hitter.  Becker fanned 11 hitters and only allowed the one unearned run.  The Raptors took an early lead 2-0 lead in the first on Braden Argabrights 2-run triple.  Sabetha added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth on a Riley Herrmann single and an error.  Jake Longabaugh added a pair of hits as the Raptors managed only five hits in the contest.
