Raider Classic Boys Tourney Recap Tuesday
By Justin Fluke

Marysville 44, Jackson Heights 31
It was the #3 seed Cobras that grabbed the early 4-0 lead, but Marysville got 6 bench points and took an 8-5 advantage after one quarter and went ahead 22-11 at halftime.  The Bulldogs (4-6) lead by as many as 17 in the second half before posting the win to snap a six-game losing streak.  Kaleb Koerperich had 12 points for Marysville, while Jackson Heights got 10 from Preston Richter but battled foul-trouble and poor shooting throughout the contest and fell to 6-5 with the loss.

Troy 55, Horton 53
In really the only competitive game of the day, it wasn't close in the first half as Horton jumped to a 10-2 lead and was up 28-15 at halftime while limiting Troy to only three made field goals.  The Trojans however made 9 of 10 free throws and then made 10 more charity tosses in the fourth quarter and came from 16 points down to take their first lead 50-49 with 1:58 to play in the game.  Horton seemed to get rattled and committed 14 of their 18 turnovers in the second half while also suffering from major foul trouble and had a trio of players foul-out.  Jake Ross led the Troy comeback with 13 of his 15 points in the second half including a pair of treys and William Boeh had all 10 of his points in the final two periods plus Collin Jasper added 10 as well and Trevor Bembrick had 9.  Horton, who had a four game win streak snapped, got 19 from Trey Dishon, but only two made shots in the second half.  Dakota Bayles added 12 for the Chargers and both teams are now 5-5 on the season.

Falls City 44, Hiawatha 14
In a rematch from early December, Falls City used a suffocating defense to hold Hiawatha to 4 points or fewer in all four quarters.  The Redhawks slowed the game down and hung around but a couple big three-pointers by Jordy Stoller put the Tigers ahead 21-8 at halftime.  Stoller also had 5 steals as Hiawatha committed 18 turnovers in their 8th straight defeat.  Logan Gormley led the Hawks with 6 points all in the first half, and Hiawatha was 0-10 at the free-throw-line.  Falls City got 11 points from Stoller and 9 from Wade Witt as 9 players scored and the Tigers improved to 15-1 on the season.

Nemaha Valley 65, St. Mary's 39

Nemaha Valley scored the first 8 points of the final contest and lead 18-2 very early before coasting to the victory to stay unbeaten at 10-0.  Trent Olberding scored 15 points including three baskets behind the arc while Creighton Brinker scored 10, plus a few steals, blocks and rebounds all in the first half and the Raider starters did not play the final 12 minutes of the game.  Tad Kuhlman added 10 as 11 different players scored for NV.  St. Mary's got 12 from Gavin Royer and 111 from Luke Palmeri but had 16 turnovers in the first half along falling behind 35-15 at the break.  The Bears are now 2-7.
