This morning, the Big 12 conference posted its 2022-23 Men’s Basketball conference schedule. It’s hard to believe that basketball season is only 45 days away with football getting fully under way, but here we are.

This season brings much anticipation for both Kansas schools with the Jayhawks coming off their first national title in almost a decade and a half, and the Wildcats bring in a new head coach with some solid transfer talent obtained in the portal.

Conference play starts for both teams on New Year’s Eve with KU hosting Oklahoma State on CBS at 1:00 p.m., and K-State hosting West Virginia with the network and time to be announced.

The first matchup of the Sunflower Showdown in the 2022-23 season takes place in Manhattan. They will meet up on Tuesday, January 17th at 6:00 p.m. with the game airing on ESPN, ESPN 2, or ESPNU. In three of the last four meetings in the Little Apple, the winner has won by seven points or less.

Round two of the Sunflower Showdown from Lawrence will be on Tuesday, January 31st at 7:00 p.m. on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. That will be the 299th edition of the historic rivalry dating back to 1907. K-State has not won in Lawrence since 2006.
