The Centralia Panthers won a key district game on Friday night at home against the Troy Trojans by a final score of 20-19.

The two teams started the game with four straight punts with no score going into the second quarter.

Troy would get on the board first as they would cap off an 80-yard drive with a 34 yard touchdown pass from Reagan Hartman to Boden Benitz.

Centralia would have a quick response as they got a Brock Reinecke four yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7.

Centralia would then force Troy to punt and the Panthers would score again as they got a one yard touchdown run from Trenton Talley as they would take a 14-7 lead into the halftime break.

Troy pulled out all the stops to begin the second half as they busted a surprise onside kick and would recover and score. They capped off the 49 yard drive with a touchdown pass from Hartman to Jerrit Norris from three yards out.

Troy would fail on a two point conversion try and would trail 14-13 midway through the third quarter.

Centralia's first second half possession would end in a three and out and Troy would score again. This time it was Hartman finding Christian Etherton on a 32 yard strike.

They would fail on another two point conversion try to lead 19-14 going into the fourth quarter.

The Trojans had the ball late in the game and would throw an interception that gave Centralia over three minutes to drive and win the game.

The Panthers made some big plays on third down to extend the drive and Drew Gibbs would score on a two yard run to give Centralia a 20-19 lead with just 30 seconds left.

Troy had one more shot and they found Norris on a deep pass that he caught and ran 47 yards down the sideline but was pushed out around the 10 yard line as time expired and the Panthers were able to hold on for the win.

K-Preps had Centralia ranked #5 and Troy #4 going into the game in Class 1A.

Centralia improves to 4-0 and will travel to Jackson Heights on Friday while Troy drops to 3-1 and will return home to host Maur Hill-Mount Academy.
