Falls City 46, Jackson Heights 12

The Tigers of Falls City pounced out to an early lead and led the Cobras of Jackson Heights 19-5 after the first quarter of action. Falls City went on to outscored Jackson Heights 11-5 in the second period, to push their lead to a 30-10 margin at the half.

Jackson Heights looking to respond in the second half found it even harder to score against the Tigers as they only registered two more points in the game in the second half, falling to Falls City 46-12.

Tigers were lead on the night with Claire Poppe who tallied 14 points and was the only player to registered double figures. Jackson Heights finished with only four players scoring on the night.

Horton 49, Hiawatha 39

It was a tight ballgame for a majority of the contest until the second half when Horton pushed out to a consistent nine point lead and staved off Hiawatha the rest of the way for the 49-39 win. Horton lead by only one after the first period (7-6) and by four at the half (18-14).

Chargers on the night were lead by three in double figures with Mariah Hisle leading the way with 16 points and Sarah Coversup and Amber Wilhelm each adding 10 points. Hiawatha in the loss was paced by Sophia Fortmeyer and her 16 points and Miracle Clark's nine points.

Nemaha Valley 55, Marysville 37

The Lady Raiders propelled themselves into the Hiawatha Invitational championship behind aggressive defense and hot shooting on their way to the 55-37 win over the Bulldogs. Nemaha Valley forced Marysville into 24 turnovers and used that to generate offense, too.

Raiders pushed out to a 11-7 lead after the first quarter, then used a 21-11 second period to really gain full control of the ballgame, leading it 32-18 at the half. Second half would be played relatively even with Nemaha Valley holding Marysville down from making any big run.

Nemaha Valley on the night was lead by Jaci Swart add her 14 points, which is her fifth double figure game in the last six, all of which have been wins for the Raiders. Ashley Rottinghaus, also tallied double figures with 10 points on the night and Kennedy McKernan chipped in nine of her own. Marysville in the loss was lead by Rachel Heiman who finished with nine points.

With the win Nemaha Valley makes the championship of the Hiawatha Invite for the first time since 2002 and seeks their fifth tourney crown.

Troy 50, Rock Creek 43

Rock Creek was looking to get back to the Hiawatha Invite championship for the sixth straight year, but the Troy Lady Trojans had something to say about that. After being down by one, 10-9 at the end of the first quarter, Troy used an 11-4 second quarter to take the lead and wouldn't give it up the rest of the way.

Great shooting, defense and rebounding helped pace the Trojans to the 50-43 win over the Mustangs to earn a spot in the Hiawatha Invite championship game. Troy was lead by two in double figures as Kelli Marriot lead the way with 14 points and Claire Turpin finished with 12 points and was a beast on the boards. Seven other Trojans added a bucket in the contest.

Rock Creek was lead by Megan Srna with her 13 points and Codi Ebert added 10 points in the loss.

For Troy this mark's the last time they will play in the Hiawatha Invite as they move to the Twin Valley League next year and the Trojans look to win the tournament for the first time in school history. Trojans are back in the championship for the first time since 2000, when they loss to Horton in overtime in that game.
