Holton Grapplers Win Baldwin Invite & Royal Valley Takes 7th

It was another domination on the mats by the Holton Wildcats yet again this season as they competed in and won the Baldwin Invitational by over 40 points. Fellow Big Seven League teams Royal Valley and Santa Fe Trail also competed in the 16 team field of action.

Holton Wildcats compiled 221 total points off of several great performances on the day that included one champion, a second place, three third places, a fourth place, five fifth places, a sixth and two seven place finishes on the day.

The Panthers of Royal Valley finished seventh with 110 points, one point ahead of eighth; registering one champion on the day, along with a third, fourth, two fifth's and an eighth place finish. Santa Fe Trail finished fifteenth as a team with a trio of sixth place finishes highlighting the day for the Chargers.

For the Holton Wildcats it was junior, Andrew Rieschick with the best performance of the day as he went a perfect 4-0 capturing the 160lb crown winning via technical fall (18-1) in the championship bout. Rieschick won two of his other matches via pinfall and the other via a major decision (14-0).

Senior, Lane Lassiter had the second best finish on the day for the Wildcats placing second in his weight class of 145lbs. After a bye in the first round, Lane won his next two matches by decision 5-1 and 4-3, before falling in the championship bout.

Third place finishes were captured by three Holton grapplers including: Justin Pool (113lbs), Justin Rieschick (132lbs) and Lucas Lovvorn (138lbs). Pool won his third place match via a major decision 15-4, while Rieschick won third by injury default and Lovvorn captured third via a pinfall victory.

The other top seven performances on the day for the Wildcats included: 4th Place finishes--- Kyle Mick (170lbs) 5th Place finishes--- Eli Dowd (106lbs), Hunter Prices (120lbs), Jonah Lutz (126lbs), Mason Baum (152lbs) and Nathan Shields (220lbs)  6th place finishes--- Cooper Zeller (285lbs)  7th Place finishes--- Jordan Booth (126lbs) and Bradley Hooper (285lbs).

Royal Valley's day was highlighted by senior, Tanner Ogden who went 4-0 on the day winning the 152lb weight class. Ogden won the championship bout via a decision 8-5, while winning his other matches of the day via pinfall, twice and a major decision (13-2), also.

Other top eight performances for the Panthers on the day included: 3rd Place finishes--- Christian Matthews (170lbs) 4th Place finishes--- Chance Ogden (160lbs) 5th Place finishes--- Austin Ashley (113lbs) and Wes McClane (285lbs) 8th Place finishes--- Bryce Golightley (145lbs).
