#12 K-State (7-2, 9-3) defeats Kansas (3-6, 6-6) 47-27 to punch their ticket to the Big 12 Championship game against #4 TCU (9-0, 12-0) next Saturday in Arlington, TX.

Quarterback Will Howard did not complete a single pass in the entire second half, but it didn’t matter as KU’s defense was unable to stop running back Deuce Vaughn. He went for 229 scrimmage yards and a rushing touchdown.

Howard ended up with 11 completed passes with all coming in the first half. He finished with 213 passing yards and two passing touchdowns.

The Cats make the Big 12 Championship game for the first time since 2003 and will hope to win their first conference title since 2012.

They have also very likely punched their ticket to the Sugar Bowl as well. If TCU wins next Saturday, they will go to the College Football Playoff and K-State will fill the automatic Big 12 bid. If K-State wins, then K-State fills the bid as well.

With how things shaped up around college football today, with teams like Oregon and Clemson losing, the Cats will likely be a top-ten team next week in the upcoming College Football Playoff poll.

Head coach Chris Klieman picked up his ninth win which is the first time he has reached that mark in his tenure at K-State.

As for KU, they will still be making a bowl game after an overachieving 6-6 final record and three conference wins.

With head coach Lance Leipold getting a contract extension, the Jayhawks have a lot to look forward to in the future.
