Centralia and Frankfort split their games on Friday night in Frankfort with the Wildcat girls winning 55-41 and the Panther boys winning 63-43.

It was a three-point shooting contest in the girls’ game with the two teams combining for ten made threes in the first half. Frankfort senior small forward Taryn Parthemer made three and junior point guard Emma Hardwick made a pair.

Centralia’s leading scorer sophomore guard Oen Deters also made two in the first half, but she only played about ten minutes of game time after picking up three personal fouls.

The Panthers’ shooting went cold out of the break making just two two-point field goals for just six points while Frankfort lit them up for 19 third quarter points to get some separation.

Centralia would get their deficit down to six with a few minutes left, but the Panthers picked up a technical foul for having six girls on the floor. The game spiraled out of control from there as the Wildcats ended the game on a 9-0 run.

Frankfort junior guard Hattie Gros was consistently making shots and went 8-for-9 from the free throw line making her the “Player to Bank On” brought to you by Farmers State Bank.

Parthemer would go on to score 18 points with six three-point makes. Hardwick ended up with another ten points of her own.

Centralia junior small forward Lena Haverkamp led the Panthers in scoring with 15 points. Deters finished with 12.

In the boys’ game, Frankfort hung around for the first 12 minutes of game time, but Centralia got some baskets from senior guard Trenton Talley and junior guard Reese Tanking to give themselves an 11-point lead at halftime.

In the second and third quarters, the only player for Frankfort that made a field goal was sophomore forward Lane Loiseau, who made 15 points in those quarters. It wouldn’t be enough to keep them in the game, though, as Centralia was able to pull away in the second half for the decisive win.

The Panthers had four scorers finish with double-digit point totals. Leading them was Talley with 16 making him the “Player to Bank On” presented by Farmers State Bank. Junior guard Maveryk Becker was second in points with 13. Tanking ended up with 12 points and senior power forward Brock Reinecke finished with ten.
