Centralia's Koch & Horton's Murata to Run in 2013 Kansas Shrine Bowl Cross Country All-Star Run

The sport of cross country this season was stellar for the Kanzaland area with three state champs and many other great performances at state. Two of those great performers at state this year have been performing great all four years of their cross country career and that has earned them spots in the 2013 Kansas Shrine Bowl All-Star Cross Country Run.

Centralia Panther, Lukas Koch and Horton Charger, Leah Murata both who have won plenty of events in their time running in high school will partake in the All-Star run with some of the best cross country runs from the state in the Shrine Bowl run.

Koch raced his way to wins in every event he competed in this season that included a state championship in Class 1A where he registered a time of 16:16.00 which was 24 seconds better than the second place finisher on the day. To go along with Lukas great year of winning all of his races, he even broke a school record and course record at his home invitational this year.

Murata this year continued to succeed with plenty of top performances in all the meets she competed in this year as she earned the Delaware Valley League title and also won the Sabetha Invitational. At state, Leah registered a fourteenth place finish in Class 3A with a time of 16:25.50; she took seventh at state in 2011.

Won area coach will also be participating in the All-Star run as KCCTFCA Girls 1A Coach of the Year, Axtell Eagle coach, Brenda Peschal while help coach the runners.

The race will take place on July 27th at Washburn University preceded the football all-star game which will be played at 7:00pm the race will be at 6:30pm and be a part of the televised pre-game show for the football contest.
