B&B Lady Falcons Soar to 1A-Division II State Tourney
By Mike Smith

B&B 47, Wetmore 27

Winning athletics is B&B high school is known for and this year has been nothing but stellar with a volleyball and football state title. Know the girls basketball team as a shot at a third state title for the Falcons this season as they earned a spot in the Class 1A-Division II state tournament with a win over Wetmore in the sub-state championship game on Saturday, 48-27.

B&B with a little retribution on their minds from a 39-30 loss to Wetmore in the sub-state finals last year, used a big second half to swing the game in their favor. It was only 25-20 at the half with B&B on top over Wetmore, but behind a 14-2 third quarter the Falcons pushed to a double figure lead in the third quarter. The Cardinals went cold in the second half struggling offensively only scoring seven points in the second half and were plagued by turnovers.

Junior, Laura Sudbeck as she has most of the season lead the way with 17 points on the night, posting 12 points by the half. Laura was joined by senior, Erica Sudbeck in double figures as she tallied 11 points, responding from her scoreless game in the sub-state semifinals.

For Wetmore, senior, Dana Kramer lead the way with eight points in the loss as the Cardinals ended their season with a 14-9 record behind a stellar senior class, yet again for the Cardinals.

With the win B&B Falcons improved to 20-3 on the season and punched their ticket to the state tournament in Hays starting Wednesday.
