KS State Tournament Brackets Announced -- 8 Area Teams Headed to State

State tournament bids have been earned by teams and eight area teams will be headed to the state basketball tournament this season.

In Class 3A the lady Bluejays of Sabetha take their 17-6 record to the state tournament, while the Nemaha Valley Raider boys repeated as sub-state champs this year punching their ticket to the state tournament this season as they look to get back to the state championship, yet again.

Class 2A will have a Charger flavor as the Jefferson County North Chargers sweep the sub-state titles in Oskaloosa with both the boys and girls earning bids to the state tournament. Both Chargers teams make it back-to-back years to the state tournament as the boys are 17-6 on the season and the girls 21-2. The Lady Chargers are looking to repeat as state champs.

In Class 1A-Division I, the Hanover Wildcat girls and Centralia Panther boys squads are head to state after capturing sub-state titles. Hanover took down Valley Heights the sub-state number one seed in the finals to improved to 14-7 on the season and move to the state tourney. Centralia boys are back to the state tournament were they were last year, the Panthers look to improve upon last year's state tournament outing, taking their 18-5 record to state this year.

The Axtell Eagles boys and the lady B&B Falcons punched their tickets to state in Class 1A-Division II by winning sub-state titles. B&B moves to the state tournament with a 20-3 record this season as many of the lady Falcons look to win another state title this year, after many of the girls won a volleyball state title this year. The Axtell Eagles are enjoying their first winning season since 1996 and look to continue that at the state tournament, going to state 15-8 on the year.
