The lady Chargers of Jefferson County North muscled their way back into the Class 2A state title game for the second straight year, looking to defend their state title from last year this time taking on a tough Smith Center squad.
It was fast starts in round one and the semifinals and a majority of games this season that helped propel the Chargers to wins all season but JCN found themselves down by two at the end of the first quarter and down by four at the half. The lady Chargers tired to mount the comeback but were outscored 22-17 in the fourth and couldn't overcome early turnovers and 20 total in the game, as Smith Center grabbed the 63-55 win.
Senior, Jacee Kramer ends her Charger career leading the JCN squad again this season but only tallied 18 points in the title game, while junior, Jamie Navinskey added 17 points for the Chargers.
The Chargers capped off their stellar season with a Class 2A state runner-up performance with the loss falling to 23-3 on the season to wrap up the year.
