The Perry-Lecompton boys basketball team opened their season on Tuesday night at home with a wire-to-wire 49-28 win against Jefferson County North.
The Kaws (1-0) led 20-4 after the first quarter and hit five threes in the first eight minutes. The Chargers (0-1) would chip away a little bit in the second quarter as they trailed 29-16 at halftime.
The Kaws left no doubt as they would come out of halftime and outscore JCN 15-3 in the third quarter as they would put the game away.
Colby Krein was the KNZA Player of the Game presented by Citizens State Bank & Trust Company in Hiawatha as he finished the game with 10 points.
Dayton Tucker also added 10 points for Perry-Lecompton while Easton Graves finished with eight points and Rawlin Welch added six points, and five apiece from Houston Habiger and Kayden Baker.
The Kaws ended the game hitting nine three-pointers.
The Chargers (0-1) had eight players score in the game led by Rex Fuhrman who finished with six points, five points from Isaac Laird, and four points from Brody Van Dyke.
