The Doniphan West girls basketball team opened a 13-6 first quarter lead at Horton on Tuesday night and would go on to defeat the Chargers 56-44.
The Mustangs (5-1) have won five straight games since their season opening loss to Hiawatha.
The scoring was balanced with Courtney Johnson leading the way with 17 points. Reese McCauley finished with 13 points, Andi Foster finished with 12 points, and Belle Smith chipped in with nine points.
The Chargers (2-3) were bogged down by turnovers on the night, but were led in scoring by Kansas Keo with 11 points while they also got six points each from Kara Coversup, Bobbi Becker, and Kirsten Smith.
