KNZA Broadcast: D-West Boys Outlast Horton to Improve to 4-2

The Doniphan West boys basketball team was able to outlast Horton 57-52 on Tuesday night to improve to 4-2 on the season.

The game was even in the first half with both teams scoring 11 in the first quarter and 14 in the second quarter for a 25-25 score at the break.

The Mustangs would lead 38-36 going into the fourth quarter with no team holding a lead bigger than six all night.

The Chargers (0-5) had a chance in the final seconds to send the game into overtime, but Cooper Strube’s missed three-pointer allowed the Mustangs to hold on for the win. D-West added a couple of free throws after that miss.

Both teams hit nine three-pointers in the game with the Mustangs being led in the scoring department by Kolter Peterson with 15 points while Braylon Shelton and Ketcher Peterson each finished with 13 points.

The Chargers were led by Javon Kahbeah who had a game high 20 points with six three-pointers. Strube added 10 points while Aidan Jamvold finished with eight points off the bench.
