Coaches Announced for 53rd Shrine Bowl

The 53rd Kansas Shrine Bowl game is set for Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Emporia and the coaching staffs have been announced for the game next summer.

Rossville head coach Derrick Hammes will represent Class 1A as an assistant for the East squad. Hammes led the Dawgs to the Class 1A State Championship game back in November in which they fell short against Sterling.

He has multiple years of coaching experience in this game as he was the East head coach back in 2017 while also being an assistant coach in both 2016 and 2022.

The head coach for the East will be Wellsville’s Mike Berg while other assistant coaches include Kurt Webster of Shawnee Mission Northwest, Rod Stallbaumer of Basehor-Linwood, Bradley Argabright of Labette County, Greg Slade of Santa Fe Trail, and Andrew Gantenbein of Osage City.

Leading the West squad will be Mulvane’s Daniel Myears while assistant coaches will be Randall Zimmerman of Junction City, Erin Beck of Great Bend, Dawson Elliott of Augusta, Brent Hoelting of Pratt, Todd Rice of Garden Plain, and Brent Schneider of Sterling.
