Girls 2A State Tournament Quarterfinals in Salina

Ellinwood - 55
Rossville - 48

The Rossville girls basketball season concluded on Tuesday afternoon in Salina in the opening round of the Class 2A State Tournament.

Rossville battled against the 1-seed Eagles and #2 ranked team in the state, but ultimately the Eagles were able to survive a furious second half push by the Dawgs.

The game was tied at 13-13 at the end of the first quarter, but the Eagles used a 19-8 second quarter to lead the game 32-21 at halftime.

The Eagles would stretch the lead to 14 early in the third quarter, but Rossville would begin their push throughout the third and fourth quarters.

Rossville would get within three points near the final minute of the game, but Ellinwood tightened up on defense and got some much needed stops and free throws down the stretch to avoid the upset against the Dawgs.

Rossville senior Rylee Dick finished with a game-high 31 points, hitting five threes, and finishing a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Junior Nora Burdiek added nine points and 11 rebounds while Bristol Miller chipped in with seven points.

Ellinwood got 21 points and nine rebounds from Brynn Widener while Mette Maxwell finished with 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

The 2025-2026 girls basketball season for Rossville ends with an overall record of 15-11 while Ellinwood improved to 26-1 overall and will face Eureka in the semifinals on Thursday afternoon in Emporia.
