The Sabetha boys golf team captured the Class 3A Regional Championship on Monday at Village Greens Golf Course, earning a trip to the state tournament.
The Bluejays finished with a team score of 335 to claim the regional title, while Perry-Lecompton and Jefferson West also secured state tournament berths by finishing among the top three teams. Both the Kaws and Tigers posted team scores of 352. The three qualifying teams will compete next week at Lake Shawnee Golf Course.
Holton’s Easton Moulin earned individual regional medalist honors after carding a 3-over-par 75.
Sabetha was led by Hudson Scoby, who finished fifth overall with an 81. Gavin Wedel and Dawson Moore each shot 83 to place eighth and ninth, respectively.
Perry-Lecompton’s Toby Wagner earned runner-up honors with a round of 78, while Ethan Tolbert finished inside the top 15 with an 86.
Jefferson West was paced by Gage Moser, who placed third overall after shooting an 80. Jace Coleman also finished in the top 15 with a round of 87.
Additional individual state qualifiers included Nolan Bausch of Royal Valley, who placed sixth with an 82, Noah Streit of Silver Lake in seventh with an 83, and Brody Kelley of Silver Lake in 11th place with an 86.
