The Hanover Wildcats capped their second straight season unbeaten and claimed the 8-Man DII State title for the second straight year with win over Hodgeman County, claiming their 5th straight State title.
Wildcats jumped out to a 24-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter and led 32-8 at halftime over the Longhorns but behind a 26-6 4th quarter Hodgeman County got back into the game and made it tight. The Longhorns scored a TD with 7 seconds left to draw within one score and tired an onside kick but it was recovered by Hanover and the Wildcats held on for the win.
Daiken Stallbaumer was 13-17 for 232 yards with 3 TDs to lead Hanover, while rushing for 86 yards with 2 TDs on 23 carries and also had a 36-yard INT return TD. Kevin Diederich caught 4 passes for 77 yards with 2 TDs, while Brennan Zabokrtsky snagged 4 passes for 71 yards with a TD. Carter Bruna added 58 yards on 13 carries with a TD and caught 4 passes for 61 yards.
