Troy Trojans earned their first win of the season and opened district play with a win over the Cobras of Jackson Heights. Trojans took grasp of the game on the opening drive, capping it off with a 13-yard TD pass from Collin Jasper to Alex Schmille, with 2pt conversion successful.
Trojans would battle some adversity throughout the ball game to hold on for win, as they were outgained 230 to 139 total yards and had three turnovers. The Cobras tired to tie the game up in the first half as Caleb Niehues blocked a punt and the Cobras drove the ball for a 5 yard TD run by Adam Frey, 2pt conversion unsuccessful, 8-6 Troy.
With 1:15 left in the game Jackson Heights drove down the field to try and win the game but in the waning seconds came up short of the endzone being tackled on the 5 yard line on the last play of the game as time expired.
