Hiawatha Redhawks have locked up a playoff spot with the 20 point win over Riverside on the road. The Redhawks took early control of the game and never looked back as they lead 34-0 at the half.
The Chilcoat brothers, Denzel and Brad again had great games as Denzel rushed for 3 scores (11, 54, 38) and caught a 24 yard TD pass from Brad. Brad, also tossed a 42 yard strike to Connor Bigham for a TD, while Parker Hasenkamp added a 2 yard rushing score.
For Riverside all their points came late in the ballgame with Dakota Pummell catching 2 TD passes (25 & 35) from Andrae McGaughy, while also rushing for a 2-yard score. McGaughy was 19-34 passing for 234 yards and the 2 TD's to Pummell. Kyle Studer had six receptions for 104 yards.
With the loss Riverside's playoff hopes have been dashed after an unbeaten DVL season and DVL North title. While the Redhawks will play for the district title against Big Seven League foe Sabetha next week (you can hear that game on 103.9 KNZA and right here on www.mscsports.net)
