In the close ballgame and tightest contest of the Zone 1 AA tournament thus far it was Doniphan County topping Seneca 2-1 in a pitcher's duel that lasted around only an hour and ten minutes of action.

Seneca got on the board first striking early in the first inning plating what would be their lone run on an RBI single by Devin Henry, scoring Eric Huerter who singled earlier in the inning. But after that Seneca only managed one hit off of Doniphan County pitcher Phoenix Keller who was dialed in and pitched a complete game giving up just three hits, one run and three walks, while striking out one to earn the win on the mound.

Doniphan County offensively had Nathan Gaarder get a single and come around to score on an error by Seneca to tie the game up at 1-1 in the second. Then Doniphan County scored once in the third also after Colton Masters double early in the inning he came around to score the final run of the game, as both teams were held scoreless after the third.

Like Keller for Doniphan County, it was Seneca's, Alex Rottinghaus pitching a complete game but coming out on the losing side only giving up six hits in six innings, two runs and a walk with three strikeouts.

So for the second straight night Doniphan County staved off elimination and continued their season improving to 21-14 on the season and moving on to play Sabetha Thursday night (July 25th), needing two wins to win the Zone tournament. Seneca wraps up their stellar season with a 25-5 record and won the NEK regular season and tournament titles.
