Behind four passing touchdowns and 361 yards from quarterback Reid Greaser, the Troy Trojans remained unbeaten with a hard fought 25-22 win Friday night at Perry Lecompton. Troy could only run for 59 yards and gave up 263 on the ground to the Kaws, but earned their second straight solid road victory to improve to 4-0 on the season.

It was the Kaws striking first on their homecoming night with a 32 yard option run for a touchdown by Cole Kellum, but Troy answered on thier own seven-play-drive in the first quarter to tie the score 6-6 on a nine yard TD from Greaser to Cutar Huss.  Perry drove 51 yards on 9 plays in the second quarter to take a 13-6 lead on a Michael Kellum one-yard run, but Troy answered 20 short seconds later on a 64 yard TD strike from Greaser to Brody Winder.  After holding on downs at their own 30 yard-line in the final 90 seconds of the half, Greaser found Tyler Franken for a 29 yard touchdown which Franken caught off a tip to give the Trojans an 18-13 halftime lead, despite missing all their point-after-tries.

Troy got the only touchdown in the third quarter on a Greaser to Huss 42 yard scoring pass and took a 25-12 advantage into the fourth quarter.  It looked the like Trojans secured the win when the stopped Perry on a fourth down and goal play at the one-yard-line, but Greaser was dropped in the endzone for a safety with 5:51 remaining in the game and then Dalton Kellum returned the ensuing free kick to the Troy 15 yard line before Cole Kellum ran in his second rushing score and a second kick by Toby Meyer pulled the Kaws within 25-22 with 5:32 to play.  The Trojans were able to keep the ball for the rest of the contest and run out the clock to defeat their second Big 7, Class 3A opponent of the season and protect their number one state ranking.

Greaser was the Citizens State Bank and Trust Company of Hiawatha "Player to Bank On" completing 21 of 32 passes on the night while also leading the team in rushing yards.  Huss had 146 yards on 12 catches while Winder added 151 yards on 5 catches and Franken had 53 yards on 3 receptions.  Wil Smith was the Denison State Bank "Lineman of the Game," for his work at right guard and leading the team in tackles with a couple stops in the backfield as the Troy defense buckled down in the second half and made a huge goal-line stand.  Troy heads into District games the next two weeks against Doniphan West and McLouth before a huge TVL title match against Washington County in week seven.

Perry Lecompton dropped to 2-2 on the season after racking up only 85 yards rushing in the second half.  Cole Kellum finished with 100 yards on the ground while Michael Kellum added 101 and Jordan Spreer ran for 44 while throwing for 72 yards in the defeat.  The schedule tightens up even more for the Kaws who now play undefeated Big 7 teams in Sabetha and Nemaha Central the next two weeks.
